The Inspiration: A Puppy Named XZ
It all began in 2024 with the pitter-patter of tiny paws. A one-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, whom we named XZ, entered our lives and instantly became the heart of our home. His boundless joy, unwavering loyalty, and the simple, pure love he offered daily redefined our understanding of family. He was, and remains, our greatest source of joy.
The Turning Point: When Love Met Purpose
The journey took an unexpected turn when XZ developed a severe skin condition. Seeing our vibrant companion struggle was heartbreaking. As we shaved his beautiful coat for treatment, the fear of losing him felt overwhelming. Thankfully, under dedicated veterinary care, he bravely recovered.
During those anxious times, I found solace in scrolling through old photos of XZ in his full, glorious health. As an illustrator, my natural response was to pick up my digital pen. I began to draw, not just what he looked like, but who he was at his core—his playful spirit, his intelligent gaze, his essence. Sharing this portrait with my circle of artist friends brought an unexpected wave of validation and emotional connection. They saw more than a technical drawing; they felt the story it told.
That was our moment of clarity.
